Welsh Dragon Series
Thinking about entering your first sailing event? This is the perfect series for you!
The Welsh Dragon Series is a regional racing circuit run by clubs across Wales, designed to support young sailors grow in confidence on the water and explore racing outside of their home club. The events offer fun, friendly and fully supported racing for new and experienced sailors.
Whether you've raced before or are taking part in your first race, you'll be in safe hands with our friendly clubs and awesome coaches.

Who can take part?

Sailors aged 8-18

Any class of dinghy (if you need to borrow a boat just ask us and we'll help you get on the water 😊)

Club sailors who have never raced in an event

Squad sailors wanting more time on the water
We know how daunting your first event can be, that's why at each event we make sure that:

Coaches are on the water

Safety boats are always nearby

Volunteers are on shore to help with rigging & launching

Every sailor is looked after 😊

Fleets
Training Fleet
Coached, introductory fleet- perfect for rookies or sailors who aren't confident racing on their own yet. You will sail shorter courses close to shore with on-water coaching and loads of encouragement. The ideal fleet for building skills and having fun without pressure.
Main Fleet Silver
Racing for sailors who are gaining experience and looking to gain a place in next year's Welsh National Squad. Typically, they have been taking part in open training or have attended other events. Silver fleet sailors will race alongside gold fleet but will be scored separately.
Main Fleet Gold
Racing for Welsh National Squad sailors. The most advanced fleet and a great way to challenge yourself against top-level youth & junior sailors.
